It's about 36 miles from our office to the courthouse square, a little under an hour up I-77 to Statesville and west on NC 90. That's close enough for Roger to come up for a first meeting if you'd like one. It's also far enough that we won't pretend to be your next-door neighbor with a rented downtown address.

What we know about the town
Taylorsville was laid out in 1847 as the seat of the brand-new Alexander County, on land donated by three local landowners and sold off in lots to pay for a courthouse and jail. It was named for General Zachary Taylor. The streets around the courthouse square were called North, South, East and West Main, and four more were named the Back Streets.
A rail line reached Statesville in 1887, and the Alexander Railroad Company has run the short line since 1946. By the 1950s the local economy leaned on poultry, dairy, furniture and textiles. Today the orchards along the Brushy Mountains, the Apple Festival downtown and Courthouse Park, opened in 2022, are what many people know it for.
